Over 50 years old – Time to call it a day? - New on channel 1 is Nigel Farage from Berlin and Peter Mandelson in London on the ‘celebrations’ for the 50th anniversary of the EU and the Berlin Declaration.

Cornish Quango – Now playing on channel 5 - Planning has now fallen out of local democratic control into the hands of the ‘Regional Development Agencies’. These are part of the unelected Regional Assemblies and the ‘European Union of the Regions’. Like all quangos that have money to spend they must be seen to be doing something with the public purse to justify their existence. No matter that this may not be necessary, can be counter-productive, and in a lot of cases downright destructive. By using bureau-speak words such as ‘re-generation’ and ‘sustainable development’ they hope to convince the natives that this is a good thing and ‘fit for purpose’.
